ELIZABETH MAK  / ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Elizabeth is an interdisciplinary artist and theatrical designer based in Singapore and New York. As an artist, her practice involves using visual and experiential storytelling to address issues of social justice and climate change. Elizabeth works across a variety of mediums, including immersive theatre, dance, film, scenography, and multimedia. As a theatrical designer, Elizabeth has worked on Broadway, off-Broadway, regionally in the US, and internationally in Canada, Germany, Austria, China, and Singapore. Elizabeth received her MFA from the Yale School of Drama and BA from Harvard College and is a member of the IATSE Local USA829 union and non-profit collective Wingspace Theatrical Design.

SHAWN LOW  / FINANCE DIRECTOR

Shawn is an experienced operator of tech start-ups. He was one of the co-founders of the Softbank-backed fintech Better.com and a board member of its subsidiary BMTG Advisors. He is currently working on a new venture in the e-commerce space. On the side, he serves as a Venture Partner at Iterative (a Y-Combinator-style incubator for Southeast Asia) and mentors early-stage start-up founders. In his spare time, he enjoys competitive squash, kayaking, and cooking Singaporean food.

THAMMIKA SONGKAEO / HEAD OF PARTNERSHIPS AND DEVELOPMENT

Former Penn Social Impact House Fellow, World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and Bread Loaf Environmental Nominee and Scholarship Recipient, Thammika has a forthcoming novel, an MA in Comp. Lit. (fra, jpn), an MSEd in Higher Ed. (UPenn), an MFA in Creative Writing, and a BA from Williams College. At UPenn, she researched how to incentivize more university professors to integrate sustainable development into their teaching agenda. She has guest-lectured at SMU and was on the founding team of a private foundation's grant-giving arm, connecting the Singapore-based office with regional partners for the awarding of $1M worth of grants. Her other social impact work includes being on the ground with CARE and Doctors Without Borders. Interested in group dynamics and sense-making, she also partakes in Tavistock and NIODA GRCs.

TEJAS EWING / STORY AND SCRIPT

Tejas Ewing is one of the leading smartphone filmmakers in Asia. He focuses on creative, intelligent, and innovative films that put the audience first. He has worked on over forty films that have won multiple awards and been screened at festivals in twelve countries. Many of his projects have environmental or social justice themes. His film Gaia, about a global pandemic caused by environmental collapse (and was created before COVID), has won multiple international awards.

LEANNE TAN / RESEARCH LEAD

Leanne is an environmental studies student at Yale-NUS College, a games enthusiast, and the creator of The Renewable Energy Escapade, an online interactive fiction game about renewable energy, which can be accessed at leanne.itch.io/tree.

LEONG KEI SHENG  / PROTOTYPE ENGINEER

A former SUTD scholarship recipient, Kei Sheng is an electronics engineer specializing in amplifier design and mixed signal circuit designs. He thrives analyzing and troubleshooting high-power and high-speed circuits. He has worked on an IoT controlled Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) that automates the process of water sample collection in open water bodies and continues that interest in engineering for the environment until today.

GERALD LIM / PROTOTYPE ENGINEER

Gerald is an engineer at NTU's Robotics Research Center, focusing on endoscopic and clinical robotics for medical use. Though his professional background is in engineering, Gerald has always been a firm advocate for environmental awareness. Through his work as an engineer, he aims to design more conscious and responsible technologies, to reduce our impact on the Earth.

TANVI THOMBRE / PROTOTYPE ENGINEER

Tanvi is a design student doing a Master’s in Innovation by Design at SUTD, pursuing her thesis on plant-based air purification. She is passionate about the environment and health and creates experiences and products which empower people in these areas. After a bachelor’s in engineering, she is excited about the role of technology in improving lives.

NEHA ALAPATT / PUZZLE DESIGN INTERN

Neha is an Freshmore student at SUTD, aiming for the Engineering Product Development track. She has an avid love for puzzles and building small machines. She is passionate about the world around her and aims to make an impact on it. A curious mind with a passion for hands-on projects, she has embarked on many during her time at SUTD and awaits to embark on many more.
