Our mission is to create art that confronts our relationship to the climate crisis, inspires a reimagining of a future in balance, and moves people to action. Climate. Impact. Art.
Who We Are
Rainshadow is made out of a group of artists, thinkers, engineers, and researchers coming together to make art centered on the environment and climate change.
We are grateful to have been supported by and partnered with organisations such as the National Arts Council, National Gallery Singapore, and NAMIC@SIT.
Rainshadow was founded in 2021 by Elizabeth Mak, Shawn Low, and Thammika Songkaeo.
Meet the Directors
Artistic Director
Elizabeth Mak
Elizabeth is an interdisciplinary artist and designer. She is interested in how participatory art can prompt critical rethinking of systems, structures, and crises. Elizabeth has designed over 150 productions globally, worked on Broadway and off-Broadway, and collaborated with companies such as The Public Theater and the Kennedy Center. She has an MFA from the Yale School of Drama and an AB from Harvard University.
Education Director
Rachel Cheang
Rachel is an educator and facilitator. In 2022, she co-founded Energy CoLab to address the lack of energy education, with a focus on the often-overlooked social-ecological impacts in Southeast Asia. Energy CoLab designs and organises learning experiences for youth, students, and educators across Singapore through a systems approach, fostering connections and understanding of their role in shaping our energy transition.
